Congratulations on your admission to Southwestern University! Each summer, Southwestern offers the DRAFT and EQUIP programs for incoming students. These sponsored programs are facilitated by faculty in rotating departments and are designed to prepare a variety of historically underrepresented students for the academic rigor of college and provide a community of solidarity and support - all at no cost to participants!
Both programs start on-campus from Monday, June 22nd to Saturday, June 27th with Sprog (New Student Orientation) being held on Saturday, June 27th. After Sprog and up until the start of Welcome Week on Monday, August 17th, students continue to engage virtually with a team of student coordinators who are current upper level Southwestern students. Each program continues into the fall semester with enrollment into paired classes and various social events.
DRAFT (Daily Revision Advances Further Thinking) focuses on writing as a daily habit as a practice for self-reflection and communication. Students will develop and enhance their skills for writing in various disciplines.
